Crossroads

By Brad Rourke

Bobby waves to me
His car's on blocks again
I see he's got a quart
Maybe he'll share with a friend
It's a Monday like the last
The fifteenth can't come too fast
Tomorrow I'll be here
Drinking Bobby's beer

CHORUS:
I live down on the crossroads
The last stop on the way down
I live down on the crossroads
It's where you're gonna meet the whole town

Sarah's come out too
I guess I'll stay a while
And work a car or two
Put on my winning smile
A lazy summer day
The cops all stay away
There's better things to do
Than bust this sorry crew

CHORUS

Frankie hasn't showed
No one is sure why
We don't know where he goes
Or if the boy's alive
His momma used to care
But now she isn't there
So we all take our turn
Feeding Frankie what we earn

CHORUS

I live down on the crossroads
No you're not welcome to stay
I live down on the crossroads
Where we all wish we could get away
