CD Baby Review: "The West End is great unplugged, hard
rock."
In
case you have not yet purchased it, you can get our most
recent CD, Risen, at CD
Baby or download it from
iTunes. Here's a recent review on CD Baby:
The West End is great unplugged, hard rock. Their
songs either tell you such an interesting story that you
find yourself becoming one or more of the characters in
the story or they sing a song that rocks into the depth
of your soul. Some of their songs even do both -- you
find yourself believing, for a moment in time that you
are one or more of the characters in the song and the
depths of your soul are being rocked. The West End is
a band who knows each other, musically, extremely well,
as you can tell in their body of work, in their personal
appearances, and in the album, "Risen." The
four play rock, almost as one.
Also, while they are primitive Americana rock, at
the same time they remind me, some, in very positive ways,
of the early Bruce Springsteen and what I imagine Billy
Joel would have sounded like with more musical accompaniment.
Joel might have been more interesting; The West End definitely
is interesting, already. Yet The West End has a style
of its own, which I find very unique.
Listen to the songs, on Risen. I think
you'll hear an album you just cant quite put down
and stop listening to it; I did. The West End rocks! Enjoy
rocking with them!
Many thanks to John Cooper-Martin for this kind
review.

Thank You For Supporting Us at Rockville's
Hometown Holidays
We had a great time playing the 20th Annual Rockville Hometown
Holidays, the city's Memorial Day celebration! This
event attracted tens of thousands of visitors from around
the greater DC area and we were honored to be a part of
it.
Thank you to everyone who came out and supported us. Your
numbers really helped make a statement to the City's powers-that-be
who dropped by to see how it was going.
We want to give a quick shout out to Jeff and Greg from
RCI Sound,
who treated us right and helped us sound better than ever.
You might not know that it's often hard on stage to get
a good sense of how the music is really sounding out in
front -- the main speakers all face out towards the audience.
It's a challenge to get a good stage mix so performers can
hear. These guys bent over backwards and we've never heard
ourselves so well.
We'll see you next on September 13 at 9:00 pm at
the Austin Grill in Rockville Town Square.

Risen is an Editor's
Pick at Smother Magazine. An excerpt:
I had the pleasure to see the Rockville, Maryland
natives the West End perform
up in Georgetown recently. The way the crowd was
worked was impressive to say the least. The West End
are all rockers that know that the word rock
has been bastardized, twisted, and mutilated to the
point where it encompasses practically anything. Risen
looks to change that, returning rock to its proper place
in the hallowed hallways of music. . . . [A]n impressive
debut EP.
And a few comments from listeners:
- It has the urgency and sound of rowdy electric
irish ballad story telling. -- Rob R.
- Your fans will love what The West End produced
in Risen!-- Leo and Kathy D.
